SNSなどにユダヤのみなさんがろうそくやドーナツ、じゃがいも焼いたラトケスの写真などを載せて盛り上がっています。ユダヤの冬の祝日、ハヌカです。8日間続きます。ユダヤ人の友だちがいたら、Happy Chanukahと言ってあげると喜ぶと思います。
ということで、今年もラトケスつくることにしました。実は月曜なのにCAVAが飲みたくなり、飲む理由を探していて、ラトケス焼いてハヌカっぽくしちゃおうと思いつきました。
イディッシュ語の授業でラトケスを紹介したところ、食べたいという方もいらしたので、いつかこの時期にラトケスを焼いて食べるイベントができるといいなと思いました。
来年は日本でもハヌカが流行りだすといいです。
仕事も終わっていない気もするけれど、師走だし、ハヌカだし、まあ、これくらいはあってもいいと思ってます。
Today is a Monday but I want to drink CAVA. And I have been thinking a reason and found, Chanukah, though I am a goy. A month ago, my son asked me to put latkes in his bento (a lunch box. Actually, I have to preparing bento every morning because his school cooking room is under construction).
Now is the time to stop Yiddish reading and do some active learnings!

A friend of mine from Yiddish in Japan, passed away today. Just some weeks ago, we laughed together online. I still can not believe it. Today, I left my desk to get some dry cleaning and CAVA. Coming back home singing Chanukah oy chanukah like a meshgenerin, and saw a message about this very sad news. I am a Japanese Buddhist and feeling he is still here around to say goodbye to us. He was a great and a very freylakher person until the last moment. Yiddish brings me a lot of khaverim, many times it makes me happy, sometimes very sad. Just very sad. shver to live a life.
In this feeling, I am going to pick up my child.
